Eastern States Flemish Giants
Welcome to the Eastern States Flemish Giant Rabbit
Breeders Association, serving the Flemish Giant breeders and fanciers of
Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York,
Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maryland and Eastern Canada.
We are privileged to also have Associate Members from across the country.
We are proud to breed and show the largest rabbit
recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Known as the
Gentle Giant, the Flemish is shown in 7 varieties, Black, Blue, Fawn, Light
Gray, Sandy, Steel and White. The Flemish Giant averages 15-17
lbs at maturity, but can weigh 20 lbs. or more.
The Flemish is not like your average rabbit.
Their rapid rate of growth and large size means a little extra consideration in their diet, housing
and care. They have been specifically bred to be gentle and even
tempered. The Flemish have one of the few "mandolin" shape body types.
Our members strive to breed to the Standard accepted by the American Rabbit
Breeders Association, to achieve an over-all balance, large bone, massive
size, and a well defined arch with good condition.
Eastern States sponsors 2 major show weekends, presently held in
Cortland, New York. Known as the Spring Carousel and the Fall
Classic, each is a 2 day show with the most Flemish Giants
you'll ever see in one place! Past results are available by
clicking on the buttons below.
We also sponsor a Specialty Show around
February, in Pennsylvania in
conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Rabbit Breeders Convention
Show.
