Many of today's great
Flemish Giant Breeders will tell you they got their first
Flemish "as a Kid". Could have been through 4-H, FFA , personal
interest or their parents. And as we've all heard, "once
you've had a Flemish Giant, no other rabbit will do."!
The Youth Breeders and Exhibitors of today are the future of our
breed. We are very proud to showcase their accomplishments, at
all levels of showmanship and competition. |

2010 NATIONAL SHOW WINNERS
BEST OF BREED

BEST OPPOSITE OF BREED
RANDY NIFFENEGGER, WISCONSIN

Victoria LaBoyteaux wins 2 Best of Breeds!

I am Victoria LaBoyteaux of Holden, Louisiana. I'm 14 yrs old and in my 2nd year of showing Rabbits. I fell in love with the Flemish Giant Breed and got 1 as a pet. I was showing Californians, Standard Rex and New Zealand White. I showed my first Flemish giant doe last year and took BIS! I was hooked. I now have a White doe named Rose and I just Grand championed her on 11-14-09, at our LRBA Youth scholarship show. I now own an ARBA registered Grand Champion and am working on my 2nd Grand champion, a light gray doe (Alice) with 1 leg as a Junior and 3 legs as an Intermediate. 1 more to go as a Sr. I'm so excited. I will be raising & showing Flemish for years to come and thank my Mom & Dad for traveling so far to help me accomplish my dream. I still show my other breeds as well, but recommend my gentle giants to any youth that ask
"What kind of Rabbit is THAT?"

Ashley Sloan's Senior Sandy
Doe, "Hopalong Cassidy", took BOB at the first show of the Penn Ohio
Rabbit Breeders, April 4, 2009. And BOS in the second show!
Her Junior Sandy Buck, "Big Earred Hot Shot" took BOS in the first show
and BOB in the second! Congratulations Ashley! Way to go!

Keep promoting those Flemish,
Ashley!

Ashley Sloan is rightfully proud of her BOB and
BOS wins at the Central PA RBA Show in State College,
June 1, 2008, with her 2 home bred rabbits!

The Fulton County Fair
(20 miles west of Toledo,Ohio) was held from August 31 to
September 6, 2007. Over 200,000 people were in attendance. But people
love to see the Flemish!
Harmon Gombash showed his Flemish and placed 4th in his
class, and 1st in Showmanship. But his greatest
accomplishment is his constant promotion and love of the
Flemish Giant. All the rabbits, except one, were of
his stock and raised and shown by other 4H youth breeders,
with his encouragement.
Harmon received a call
from the Rabbit Show Secretary, congratulating him on his
promotion of the Flemish Giant, and for the very first time
in Fulton County Fair history, Flemish Giants had enough
entries to hold their own breed class! The day of show
had 11 entries! Such a wonderful effort by a Youth
breeder on behalf of our Giants.

A small explanation of the cast on Harmon's
arm... the week before the Fair, Harmon was riding his bicycle
home from Football practice and was hit by a truck and trailer.
He had to be air-lift to to the local Trauma Center and the
Pediatric ICU. After many X-rays and 15 hours of waiting,
they found he "only" had a broken thumb and an injury to an
ankle. After 3 days he was released from the hospital.
A week later, Harmon hobbled out carrying
his own rabbit, determined to show his pal all by himself.
We applaud his determination and love of the breed (and
greatly appreciate the angels that were watching over him!)
