PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
May 2006
Our
organization is doing as well as it has ever done, and the
shows are being well attended across the nation. Many are
anticipating a great show in Texas this year for the
National Convention, and I am looking forward to seeing
everyone attend that can make it. Jack Langley, our Vice
President is in charge of getting rooms and setting up the
banquet for our membership. You will be able to find much
of this information on our national web site at
www.nffgrb.com .
Right now is the time for all members to step up and get
nominations for Youth Recognition Awards to Tom Orr, Honor
Roll to Jack Langley, and Master Breeders Award to Allen
Bush. They will need this information to pick someone to
receive these awards at the National Convention. “Let ‘s
show our support in this area”.
Talking about our Web Site at
www.nffgrb.com, we did receive $50 from Eastern States
to support the web site. I need all Specialty clubs to
kick in $50 per year to support this fine communications
tool that has benefited our organization and its members.
Soon we will have had over 200,000 visits. Thanks again to
Cathy Caracciolo for the outstanding job as our web master.
Hope everyone enjoys the newsletters we are getting from
Judy Welch with the help of ole Frank. I loved the first
one, and Judy is doing and outstanding job in helping our
club move forward. Everyone should thank her when you get
time for a job well done. I want to remind everyone that
Judy has a big job, and if you have any complaints, or
issues of importance to the operations of the Flemish
Federation than address those issues to me, (That is my
job). I do not like to be the last to hear about important
things that I may be able to help resolve. I expect to be
the first, Thank You for this consideration. My phone
number is 734-241-1960, and my e-mail is
bestbugs@chartermi.net.
The
National Show in conjunction with the Texas, and Regional
Clubs was a big success. It was one of the best ran shows
I have ever attended from end to end, and something that all
members to attend to appreciate the greatness of our
organization, and the fraternity of its members. I want to
thank everyone that had anything to do with this show from
end to end it was the best ever. Special Thanks to Will
and Christi Sutton, Charlie Sikes, Laverne Sikes, all the
members of the Texas and Regional Clubs for your hard work,
raffles, food daily, outstanding awards in both youth, and
open, and the wonderful banquet. Thanks to the ladies
that cooked every day for us, and all those that helped
carry rabbits or write at the tables. It was also a
financial success. Congratulations to all that attended this
great affair. I think we had 30 rabbits shown in the youth
with Dallis Ramos-Deleon winning Best of Breed with a Sandy
6/8 Buck, and Danielle Souster winning Best Opp Breed with a
Steel 6/8 doe. In the open we had about 270 rabbits
shown. All results will be in the show results in the
newsletter. Congratulations to all that attended and made
this show the best ever. I did have a great time riding to
the show with Joe Russ from Michigan who in turn had Best
Opp. Breed at two of the shows. Joe is a great breeder, and
puts some good ones on the table. (Joe is a wonderful
friend).
Next
year in 2007 the board has selected Eastern States to have
our fifth National Flemish Giant Show. Congratulations to
the Eastern States Club and we are looking forward to having
the Best Show ever held at the Cow Palace. Everyone put
this one on his or her calendars. Eastern States already
has over 300 rabbits being shown at their shows, and with
the National who knows… Anyone who has never attended a
show at the home of Harold May in Conjunction with Eastern
States has a big treat ahead of them. I have never
attended a show in Cortland that was not one of the
Best………. Lets plan to meet in Cortland next year.
The
Michigan Show was being held today at Bob and Lynn Bolyard’s
home. Jack Langley had called and said that many breeders
were in attendance, and that they had near 150 rabbits at
the show. It sounded like everyone was having a great time
and that another great Michigan Show was in Order. John
Trone, and Pete Stephens called me and gave me details.
Many of the current board members were in attendance. I
missed everyone, but was unable to attend due to personal
issues.
Those of you that are sick are thoughts and prayers are with
you. Until we meet at the shows may all your nest boxes
be full of grand champions. Thinking of everyone, and if
you have any thing you want to discuss feel free to call me
or e-mail me.
