I sent this letter to several judges. The following pages contain some of their input on Flemish Giants. I will include other responses in later newsletters.

TO: OUTSTANDING FLEMISH JUDGE

FROM: ALLEN BUSH – SECRETARY / TREASURER OF NFFGRB

You have been nominated by one of our members as an outstanding Flemish Judge. We have already received an article from Harry Rice. Please take a couple of moments and give us your answers to the following questions. We would also like to hear any additional comments that may help our members.

  1. Who was your mentor when you first started judging Flemish Giants?

  2. Which Flemish Show was your favorite one to judge?

  3. Who beside yourself is your favorite Flemish judge?

  4. Do you judge Flemish differently at an All-Breed show vs. a Flemish Specialty show?

  5. What are we doing really well based on your judging of Flemish in 2001?

  6. What areas do we need to improve upon based on your judging in 2001?

  7. Why do younger Flemish Giants seem to do so well at major shows?

  8. It has been a long time since a Flemish Giant was best in show at a National Convention. What do we need to improve upon to raise Flemish Giants to the same level as other breeds at a National Convention?

  9. Do you have a special memory that you would like to share about Flemish Giants, or one of its members?

  10. Please provide any additional comments that you would like to share with our members.
