OPPS, WE DID IT AGAIN
September 2004
Kathy Rynard and I
needed time away from our “real world” so off we went to
Cortland, New York, home of the Cortland Classic. Needless
to say we warned Harold May with a phone call we were
coming. This caused a chain reaction call placed from
Harold to Roger “Red” Dent giving a heads up what was
happening – the California Girls are coming (Ahhhh). We
love to torture Red and being chauffeured by him gives us
the opportunity to do so (of course, the torture goes both
ways).
We really had a
great time in Cortland. We had even more fun than the year
before (believe it or not). We "played" with Will and
Christi Sutton, Fred Russell, Forrest "Shorty" Mowbray (I
had to email Red for his real name), Dwight (the John Jacobs
look alike winner) and Marge Westerkamp, Juan Perez, along
with Roger Dent and Harold. Sean Slater, James and Jim
O'Connor, and Liz Voight represented Canada with some very
nice animals. Mabel Tobias’ entry showed on Saturday with
Mabel putting her own rabbits up on Sunday (boy, what energy
that woman has). We apologize for those we left out as we
probably don’t know your name or your real name in lieu of a
nickname (lots of nicknames are thrown about). We shared
clerking with Sherry Colson on Saturday. Her husband
couldn't make it but it was a successful trip for her, she
still had some equipment to sell and sold it all. It was
quite a sight to see Wayne Bechdel run after Fred Russell's
van as he headed out towards home; Fred won the 50-50 pot.
Wayne is a very nice and hard working gentleman with some
very nice stock. The food was once again exceptional via
Kathy and Rich’s talents. Rich does a wonderful impression
of Louie Armstrong – almost too well. The weather was great
both days. The meeting with old friends and getting to
know new acquaintances/friends are always fun and available
at this show. We even got to meet Ms. Webmaster - Cathy
Caracciolo and her family who are very knowledgeable and
interesting and both Kathy and I agree she will do an
awesome job as the “Web Mistress”. The “ole regulars” were
missed, to say the least, but don’t’ worry – you were not
forgotten. We thank the May family and friends for all the
memories.
