Domestic Rabbit Spring 2002  NFFGRB Report

National Federation of Flemish Giant

Rabbit Breeders, Inc.

By Allen Bush, Secretary

A buzz is in the air with the excitement of several outstanding shows. Please send me pictures and updates from any show which you are able to attend. I also need any articles and Rabbitry advertisements by June 1st.

The Flemish Giant Club has raised the cost of a sanction. All future sanctions will be $10 dollars for an open or youth sanction. A club which sanctions open & youth will need to send $18. This change was approved by a unanimous vote of the board.

We have several All-Flemish Giant shows to report since the last Domestic Rabbit submission. The Gentle Giant club held a show in February with Tom & Bobbie Barker winning Best of Breed with a Sandy 6/8 Doe. Charles & Jean Sikes claimed Best Opposite of Breed with a Fawn Senior Buck. The Tri County club also had a show in February. Charles & Alyce Cook won the top spot with a Sandy Senior Doe. Dwight & Marge Westercamp won Best Opposite of Breed with a Sandy 6/8 buck. SW Missouri Hare Raisers held another show in February with Charles Ray winning Best of Breed with a Sandy Senior Doe. Edie Phillips won Best Opposite of Breed with a Lt Gray Senior Buck. In March, a specialty show was held by the York club with Ed Drumheller claiming the top two spots with a Sandy Senior Buck and Junior Doe. The Regional Flemish club’s show in March was won by Charles Ray with a Lt Gray Senior Doe. Stephen’s of Missouri claimed Best Opposite of Breed with a Sandy 6/8 buck. Sedalia Missouri was the place for an outstanding weekend of Flemish competition. Bob & Lynn Bolyard won all three shows with a Fawn Senior Doe, Sandy Senior Buck, and a Sandy Senior Doe. Best Opposite of Breed was won by Les Angel with a Sandy Senior Buck in Show 1, Charles Ray with a Sandy Senior Doe in show 2, and Fred Russell in Show 3 with a Lt Gray Senior Buck.

The top point leaders in the 2002 Sweepstakes series with reports submitted as of 04/08/02 are as follows: Bob & Lynn Bolyard, MI – 9,735; Charles Ray, KS – 9,201; Vic & Gloria Bloom, MI – 6,855; Lakeside Rabbitry, ME - 6,062; Dwight & Marge Westercamp, IA – 5,478; Jan VanEtten, NY – 4,193; Stephen’s of Missouri – 3,716; Jeff & Anne Mullinax, CA – 3,405; Charles & Alyce Cook, IL – 3,145: Carter’s of Pennsylvania – 2,997.
