Domestic Rabbit Late Fall 2002  NFFGRB Report

National Federation of Flemish Giant

Rabbit Breeders, Inc.

By Allen Bush, Secretary

As I write this letter, the convention is only a couple of months away. I am looking forward to Peoria in October. I know that every Flemish breeder will leave Peoria with priceless memories. Please send me pictures and updates for the December newsletter. I also need any articles and Rabbitry advertisements by December 1st.

We have only three All-Flemish Giant shows to report since the last Domestic Rabbit submission. The High Time rabbit club held a show in May with Stephanie Pruitt claiming the top spot with a Sandy Sr. Buck. Kelt & Bacus won Best Opposite of Breed with a Black Senior Doe. The six show extravaganza was held in Wisconsin in late May. Two specialty shows were held in conjunction with this event. The Regional All Flemish club held a show with the Dwight & Marge Westercamp claiming the top two spots with a Sandy Senior Doe and a White Junior Buck. The Iowa All Flemish club held a similar show and the Westercamps were awesome again. This time a Sandy Senior Doe and a White 6/8 Buck were at the top.

The top point leaders in the 2002 Sweepstakes series with reports submitted as of 08/05/02 are as follows: Bob & Lynn Bolyard, MI – 16,764; Charles Ray, KS –14,811; Dwight & Marge Westercamp, IA – 11,462; Lakeside Rabbitry, ME - 10,279; Vic & Gloria Bloom, MI – 8,999: Jan VanEtten, NY – 8,549; Dan Hall, MN – 6,489; Clouse’s of Indiana – 6,058: Jeff & Anne Mullinax, CA – 5,950; James O’Connor, Canada – 5,277. Good Luck to all that promote our "Gentle Giants".

The top point leaders in the 2003 Sweepstakes series with reports submitted as of 08/05/02 are as follows: Jeff & Anne Mullinax, CA 550; Bill & Marianne Mairs, Canada – 181; Tom & Barbi Brown, CA 152; John & Shere Machado, CA 146; Charles & Alyce Cook, IL – 106; Tom & Debbie Orr, IN – 82; Bill & Rae Collison, ME – 33; Chris Fleming, CA – 28; Randy Waggoner, IN – 17. I think that 2002-2003 will be the most competitive season in history.

The National Convention is just around the corner. I hope that all of my Flemish friends have a great time. We have two excellent judges in Armando Cabrera and Chris Hayhow. This will be the best Flemish show of the year. I hope to see you in Peoria. The website continues to be the number one addition to the NFFGRB. Everyone seems to enjoy it and it was responsible for several new members who have decided to join our family. Jeff and Anne Mullinax finished 2nd to the website in helping to sign up new members during the year. I am sending all parties interested in purchasing a Flemish to the website. Please register your Rabbitry with Jeff Mullinax. The website is www.nffgrb.com.
